9. Transmission9.1. Mechanical transmissionThe transmission will transform a torque transferred from the engine on size and the direction. It is necessary for ensuring optimum speed and passableness of the car, and also for the most economic operation of the engine and car movement by a backing. Besides, the transmission separates the engine and transmission during a stop and parking of the car and at its movement by inertia with working engine.Details of a transmission are placed in a case which is screwed by bolts on a back part of the engine. The torque from the engine through coupling is transferred to an entrance shaft of a transmission. A target shaft the transmission transfers a torque through differential to power shafts. Inclusion of transfer is carried out by moving of the sliding coupling of the synchronizer therefore the gear wheel rigidly incorporates to transmission shaft. The transmission represents very difficult unit and its repair it is necessary to make in a specialized workshop therefore removal and transmission installation are given in the present chapter only. For removal of a transmission it is necessary to lift the car and to fix it in this situation. Use of a stationary jack is also necessary. |
