12. Steering

General information

The steering consists of a steering wheel, a steering column, steering tooth reechny gearing and steering drafts. The steering wheel is fixed on a shaft of a steering column and transfers effort to tooth reechny gearing.

From each party the gear lath of steering transfer is connected by the spherical hinge to cross-section steering draft. Steering drafts transfer effort through steering tips and rotary fists to forward wheels. Such design of a steering has an easy course at absence люфта at turn of a steering wheel from an emphasis against the stop.

For simplification of turn of a steering wheel establish the hydraulic amplifier of a steering consisting of the pump of the amplifier of a steering, put in action a belt from a cranked shaft, a tank with liquid, hoses and tubes, and steering transfer.

STEERING COLUMN / HELMSMAN SHAFT

1–bolt, 15–20 N • m;
2–an intermediate shaft with universal hinges;
3–bolt, 15–20 N • m;

4–bolt, 4–6 N • m;
5–protective cover;
6–steering column;
7–clip.

Removal

PERFORMANCE ORDER

	1. Remove the button of a sound signal and disconnect the electric socket.
2. Unscrew a nut of fastening of a steering wheel.
	3. Put combination labels on an end face of a steering shaft and a steering wheel and a stripper 09561–11002 remove a steering wheel.
Prevention Do not knock on a steering wheel as these can damage a steering column.
4. Remove the bottom plug a smyatiya.
	5. Turn out screws and remove casings of a steering column.
	6. Disconnect electric sockets from switches.
	7. Remove multipurpose switches.
	8. Turn out a bolt connecting the universal hinge and a shaft of a gear wheel of steering transfer.
	9. Turn out the bolts, fixing a steering column to an arm, and remove a steering column from the car.

Dismantling

PERFORMANCE ORDER

	1. Weaken a bolt of fastening of a steering shaft to the universal hinge and remove the universal hinge.
	2. If necessary remove the lock of a steering column, previously having cut through a hacksaw on metals grooves in heads of cut-off bolts. Unscrew bolts a screw-driver with a flat edge and remove the lock of a steering column.
Prevention At installation of the lock of ignition it is necessary to use new bolts with a cut-off head.
	3. If necessary remove the lever and an arm of the mechanism of adjustment of a tilt angle of a steering column.
Prevention Do not assort a steering column and a steering shaft.

Check

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Check a steering column and a steering shaft on absence of damages and deformations.
2. Check the universal hinge of a steering shaft on absence люфта, damages and jammings.
3. Check a tilt angle arm on lack of cracks and damages.
4. Check work the mechanism of the lock of a steering column.
	5. Check a protective cover on lack of cracks or damages.

Assembly

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Assembly is carried out to sequences to return dismantling.
	2. Combine the lock of a steering column with a ledge of a column and insert the ignition key to check operation of the lock of a steering column before a tightening of bolts with cut-off heads.
Prevention Do not use ordinary screws for fastening of the lock of a steering column.

Installation

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Establish the universal hinge on a shaft of a steering column.
	Prevention Be convinced that the universal hinge is established correctly, as is shown in drawing. Check, that the bolt was established correctly in dredging of a shaft of a gear wheel of steering transfer and the end of a bolt left from the opposite side of the universal hinge.
2. Establish the universal hinge together with shaft of a steering column on a shaft of a gear wheel of steering transfer and temporarily fix a bolt.
3. Establish a shaft of a steering column to an assembly frame.
Prevention At installation be careful not to bend a steering column.
4. Tighten a bolt of fastening of the universal hinge with shaft of a gear wheel of steering transfer.
5. Establish the multipurpose switch and connect electric sockets.
6. Establish casings of a steering column.
7. Establish the bottom plug a smyatiya.
8. Establish a steering wheel.
	Prevention After installation of a steering wheel be convinced that the labels put before removal, were combined and the steering wheel is in situation for rectilinear movement.
